Beaches and the coastal path: nature on Mont-Boron's doorstep
Living in Mont-Boron means having both the sea and a Mediterranean forest within walking distance. Here is what to know about the forest park, the Mont-Alban fort and the coastal path between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer.

The Mont-Boron forest park
According to Tripadvisor and SeeNice (accessed 3 October 2026), the Mont-Boron forest park covers about 57 hectares of Mediterranean forest on the hill between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer. It has about 11 kilometres of marked trails and is home to the Mont-Alban fort, built in the 16th century.
From the fort, hikers report a panorama that stretches from the Cap Ferrat peninsula to the east as far as the Esterel massif to the west, in clear weather.

The Nice – Villefranche coastal path
The coastal path is a seaside walk between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer, described as having no technical difficulty by hiking sites (Decathlon Outdoor, Visorando, accessed 3 October 2026). Several routes make a loop possible: you climb through Mont-Boron, reach the Mont-Alban fort, then descend towards Villefranche and the coast.
The route also follows the quays of Nice, notably Quai Lunel, Rauba-Capeù and Quai des États-Unis, on the port side. On foot or running, it is one of the most pleasant walks in the city.
What about the beaches?
Nice's beaches are pebble beaches and lie below the hill, at the water's edge: you get down by car or two-wheeler, more rarely on foot from the upper floors of the neighbourhood. Access and water quality vary by cove; consult the official information from the City of Nice for supervised beaches and bathing water quality.
Mont-Boron is therefore less a "beach" neighbourhood than a "trails and panorama" one: you live above the sea rather than at its level.
A setting that adds value to properties
Protection of the forest limits new construction around the park, which contributes to the scarcity of apartments with a view in Mont-Boron. To see what that means in price terms, read our guide to property prices in Mont-Boron and the one on price per m² by neighbourhood in Nice.
The Le Vert Boron apartment, a three-room flat of about 83 m² on the top floor, opens onto this landscape: an 11 m² terrace and a view of the bay. See the listing.

Walking tips
- Bring water, a hat and good shoes: the slopes are real and the sun can be strong.
- Start early in summer, before the heat and the crowds.
- During fire-risk periods, access to forest areas may be regulated by the prefecture: check before setting out.
- Respect the park's wildlife and plants and take your litter home.
- Use a map or a hiking app to choose the loop that suits you, from a one-hour stroll to an outing of several hours.
