Castle Hill: The Cradle of Nice and Its Panorama over the Bay of Angels

No castle remains on Castle Hill, but it overlooks Old Nice and offers one of the finest panoramas on the French Riviera.

A fortress destroyed in 1706

The hill bore the citadel of Nice, which withstood the siege of 1543. In 1706, after the siege of the city, the fortress was dismantled on Louis XIV's orders. Today the site is a public park.

A viewpoint over the Bay of Angels

From the summit, the view takes in the Bay of Angels, Old Nice and the port. It is the same view, seen from the other side of the port, that you discover from the heights of Mont-Boron.

Mont-Boron, home to the Le Vert Boron apartment, overlooks the Old Port about ten minutes from Old Nice: an ideal starting point for exploring these historic places.
